Stonemere
Go in its first and sharpest form. In Capture Go a stone is taken when it has no liberties left, and the first player to capture enough stones wins. No counting territory, just fights from the first move.
Start with twelve capture problems that teach the shapes every Go player learns early: atari, double atari, the ladder and the net. Then climb a ladder of nine matches against an AI that reads ladders and looks one reply ahead, or play a friend on one screen.
- Real rules: liberties, captures, no suicide and simple ko on 7x7 and 9x9 boards
- Twelve problems: each checked by a tactical reader; the defender fights back with its best escape
- Ladder of nine matches: capture 1, 3 or 5 stones against Easy, Medium and Hard AI
- AI that reads: liberty heuristics, a ladder reader, one reply of lookahead and playouts at the top level
- Learning aids: atari warnings, a liberties view, hints and undo
- Two players: hot-seat duels with your choice of board size and capture target
Code and text written with AI assistance; checked by PN Scripts with automated tests. Every shape is drawn and every sound synthesised by code; there are no AI-generated image or audio files.
