A classic ASCII roguelike: ten generated depths of coloured letters, true shadowcasting, unknown potions and scrolls you learn by using, hunger, perks and permadeath, down to the Glyph of Depth. Free, no ads, no tracking; keyboard or touch.

Glyphdeep is a classic roguelike in the old tradition: every wall, monster and potion is a coloured letter on a grid, every move is a turn, and death is final. Ten generated depths lie between you and the Glyph of Depth.

You see only what your light reaches, with true shadowcasting around corners and doors. Potions and scrolls start out as unknown colours and nonsense words; drinking or reading one is how you learn what it does.

  • Ten depths in four regions: the Ashen Halls, the Mossy Undercroft, the Ember Vaults and the Glyph Sanctum, each with its own colours
  • Ten monster kinds: rats, fast jackals, kobolds, poisonous spiders, goblins, slow zombies, orcs, life-draining wraiths, regenerating trolls and fire-breathing drakes
  • Unidentified items: seven potions and six scrolls with names shuffled every run; an identify scroll reveals what you carry
  • Equipment: six weapons and six armours with enchantments, swapped from the pack
  • Hunger: rations and slime moulds keep you alive; resting costs food
  • Perks: each level-up offers three of eight perks such as Toughness, Keen Eyes or Alchemist
  • Touch friendly: tap to travel, tap monsters to fight, big panel buttons for everything else
