Cogtrail

Cogtrail teaches the first ideas of programming with a little workshop robot. Put command blocks into MAIN, press Run, and the robot walks, turns, jumps and picks up gears exactly as you told it, with the running block lit up so you can see where a program goes wrong.

Thirty levels add one idea at a time. A LOOP row repeats its blocks a number of times you choose, a FUNCTION row can be called from anywhere, and the if-gear-ahead block runs one block when a gear is in front and the next one when it is not.

• 9 command blocks: forward, turn left, turn right, jump, pick up, place, loop, function and if gear ahead
• 30 levels: sequences, heights and jumps, loops, functions, conditions and mixed challenges, each checked solvable
• Stars for short programs: three stars for matching the reference block count
• Step mode: run a program one block at a time
• Clear feedback: the robot bumps and explains what went wrong, such as a step that needs a jump
• Drag, tap or keyboard: every action works with touch, mouse or keys
