A code-breaking puzzle: crack the rune codes of 12 vaults by reading gold and pale pegs, with one lantern per vault that tells you whether a rune is in the code. A daily vault and colour-blind-friendly glyphs. Free, no ads, no tracking; keyboard or touch.

Somewhere below Cipherdell, twelve vault doors are sealed with codes of coloured runes. Set a row of runes and try it: a gold peg means a right rune in the right place, a pale peg a right rune in the wrong place. Read the pegs, narrow the code down and open the door before your tries run out.

Every vault also hands you one lantern. Light it, pick a rune, and it tells you whether that rune is in the code at all. Use it early to cut the possibilities, or keep it unlit for bonus points.

  • 12 vaults: from 4 runes and 6 colours without repeats to 5 runes and 8 colours with repeats and only 9 tries
  • Daily vault: one code for everyone each day, one attempt
  • The lantern: one yes-or-no question per vault about a single rune
  • Run score: points for tries left and an unused lantern, multiplied by the vault's rank; running out of tries ends the run
  • Readable runes: every colour also has its own glyph, so the code does not rely on colour alone
  • Keyboard or touch: number keys and arrows, or tap runes and slots; progress is saved
